My Stage name is (GiftedCuddo) I am from Cleveland Ohio and I am an alternative hip-hop music artist. Growing Up I always had an appreciation for music artist with a deep message to humanity, a few of my biggest musical inspirations are Kid Cudi, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Aaliyah, Selena, The Weeknd, 2Pac, Eminem, Jhene Aiko, H.E.R and many more.
I began writing poems when I was 14, I’d say at that time the poems were mainly fueled by inner loneliness I felt, or for a girl I liked at the time. Writing always gave me a way to cope with my inner feelings and emotions. I was the type of kid that could be going through something mentally and emotionally, but looking from the outside you’d never know that, I put on a good disguise, the older I got I had stopped writing poems consistently, I was just going to school and doing sports as most kids do, I wasn’t even sure what I’d be doing after I graduated high school, then in September of 2015 I saw this music video by fellow Ohio based music artist “Slim Jesus” called “Drill Time.” The music video changed his life and got his name out there in the music world, I thought to myself, “if he could do this, why can’t I?” The Fire was lit, I began writing again the first verse I wrote was for this song called “Chill Vibes” that I did with my cousin (Okayc), at that time I had no idea I’d start taking music seriously, I thought it was just the lure of wanting to be famous that was fueling me, but from October 2015 to June 2016, I probably had written 15 full songs completely by myself, with my Moms help to tell me how my hooks/melodies should flow.
I released my first music project “18 In The Making” on June 10th, 2016. Looking back on that now I almost cringe when I hear my verse flows lol, I really had no idea what I was doing or how the music business even worked, I just wanted to get music out there, by November 2016 I dropped my second mixtape, “Born In The Wrong Generation” I was truly impressed how much I progressed in my lyrics, my verse flows and all-around creativity with writing in such a short period, that project showed me I can make it in this industry. I then dropped a project called “Edo7” on my moms birthday August 17th, 2017, I’ve always been influenced by anime and the majority of that project was anime-themed, it was the first project I got on Apple Music, Spotify, etc, so I was excited, I still had no direction of knowing the music industry, I released this project without having full ownership of the beats I used, nor had a clue how to correctly promote my music.
Over the next year or two, I had stopped making music to pursue creating an anime, I was going to retire from music permanently, however when COVID-19 struck our country, I felt God spoke to me telling me “Music is your calling” I began to write again, I felt refreshed, music was fun again, I felt my storytelling abilities had vastly improved, my message, mic presence, everything was much better, I had studied up on things I needed to know business-wise about the music industry, and on October 20th, 2020, I released my latest EP “XILD” on my nieces birthday. It’s by far the best music project I’ve put together, there’s a deep message in every song.
My entire purpose for making music is to inspire people to be the absolute best they can be in life, to live life to the fullest, be positive, love yourself, and enjoy every moment of this experience. If I’m able to impact one life in a positive way with my music, that is a job well done to me.
